“I devote the utmost care to maturing our wines.
This is the moment when skill in working with wine in the barrel takes on its full value. Transforming a young wine still in fermentation into a finished product to delight customers is a challenge for me that comes around every year."
Paul Espitalie - Cellar Master

La maison du Vigneron, a real sanctuary of traditional know-how and wine-producing riches, reveals a broad palette of Jura wines and crémants. Dry white wines, Vins Jaunes, Red wines, Straw Wine, Crémants and Macvin wines.
It is a company devoted to the production, maturing and bottling of wines and to trade. Its activity encompasses the entire vine-growing and wine-producing sector, from the vine to glass.
It makes wine from grapes that have been rigorously selected according to specifications defined by our oenologists and established with our producers.
The reputation of Jura wines has always been based on a strong image of the terroir and the preservation of traditional oenological and cultural practices.
After the destruction of the wine-growing area, which stretched over 20,000 hectares at the end of the 19th century, by phylloxera, the Jura wine growers courageously reconstructed a new high-quality viticulture. Their efforts were rewarded with the granting of the first AOC in 1936.
Today, thanks to its climate, bottom soil, grape varieties and above all the growers’ expertise, the Jura wine-growing region is characterised by great diversity.
La maison du vigneron has two estates, the 8-hectare Domaine de Savagny and the 18-hectare Domaine de Quillot, both of which are Jura Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée vineyards.

Exceptional wines
with numerous medals...
Born almost 20 years ago, the Domaine de Savagny is nestled between Château-Chalon, at the historic heart of the Jura wine-growing area, and Baume Les Messieurs, the region’s cultural hub. The wines are matured according to the Jura wine tradition, with ageing in oak barrels for all of the wines. It notably offers the two jewels in the Jura vine crown: vin jaune and straw wine. The vine plots are grouped together in the Lavigny district, in which are found terroirs with clay-limestone soils in rock-sheltered, marly plots on low slopes.
The average production per year is 400 hl and covers the entire Côtes du Jura appellation with the five Jura grape varieties.

The Domaine de Quillot vine plots are grouped in several Jura districts: Château-Chalon, Montain, Lavigny and Passenans, which have clay-limestone and blue marl terroirs. The Domaine de Quillot produces white and red Côtes du Jura AOCs, Côtes du Jura Straw wine, Crémant du Jura and Macvin du Jura wines.

In 1986, the les Grands Chais de France group took over the company created five years previously in Crançot in the Jura wine-growing area. Initially known under the name “La Compagnie des grands vins du Jura”, it has now been rechristened La Maison du Vigneron.

La Maison du Vigneron has refitted a railway tunnel in which to store its wines. This is an unprecedented and original experiment that allows optimal conservation of the wines thanks to natural temperature control.
La Maison du Vigneron is equipped with an automatic fermenting room with a receiving bin, a pump shed, a stalk separator and five wine presses.
